Online or In store?
Today we are fortune enough to have the world at our fingertips, all of our favourite shops are online and available to us at any time; yes! no lines, no people, no struggling to find your size in store, now its all there ready for you to search away.
A recent development in the online shopping revolution, is the sale and distribution of wedding dresses. With this knowledge and unprecedented access how are we to know what to do?
In this guide I’m going to give you some helpful tips to buying your dress, be it online or in store.
What are the differences?
Obviously shopping in store for your wedding dress is going to be a completely different experience than shopping online. On the one hand you skip appointment times and people and on the other, you miss out on having a great consulting experience.
When shopping in store you’re able to see the product first hand, examine the material and quality, test the fit and silhouette to make an informed decision on the gown you’ll be wearing on your special day.
Where in store shopping allows more of an interactive experience, online shopping does provide a wider range of items.
What Should You Consider?
When it comes to making a decision on how you get your dress, it’s important to take some other factors into consideration.
Budget
If you’re budget is under $1000 or you’re wanting to rent, you’ll have a much easier time purchasing your dress online. With a wider range of product at varying prices you’ll be sure to find something to fit your budget. Also consider purchasing a floor sample in store, we offer our floor samples at a discounted price to our new orders and have a wide range of options to choose from.
Time
Consider how much time you have between now and the wedding, if you’re looking at 6 months or less I recommend buying online or placing a rush order in store. You can also opt for a floor sample, if you find the dress you like in store you can pay for it and take it home that same day.
Sizing
It is also prudent to take into account the size that you are and if that is going to change between now and the wedding, especially with a shortened timeline; you want your dress to fit you, ordering a dress in the size you want to be when there’s not a lot of time is a bad idea. When ordering online place your current and specific measurements into the form, remember you can alter down not up.
Specifics
Know what dress you’re looking for! Narrow down your search so when looking you know what you want and you can focus on finding that dress. If your dream dress is very specific, unseen, I recommend trying a custom seamstress; given you have an appropriate budget and time limit.
Regardless of which option you choose, it’s important to know the products. Before you go to any consultation or fitting look at the shop’s website and social media, get familiar with their products and choose your favourite pieces to try before you even walk in.
Your wedding day should be as stress free as possible, so being informed and educated on the process with realistic expectations of what can be done with your circumstances is going to make everything much easier on you and everyone involved.
